UVAAI Members Death Benefit Program
In the meeting of the Board of Directors of the U.V. A.A Incorporated held last February, 2000, the treasurer proposed giving death benefits to members of the Association so that all Alumni of the University of the Visayas will continue to feel a sense of belongingness to their Alma-Mater. Pursuant to the foregoing, the following information and guidelines are to be observed:
1. Who can avail of this death benefit:
a. Only bona-fide members can avail. One is a bona-fide member of the Association if he has paid his membership fee.
b. One must be a member of standing. He is a member of good standing if he has been paying his annual fee.
c. In this connection, since it is not easy to pay the annual fee and most of us have not been paying, the Association is offering Moratorium 2000 by which, no matter how many years a member has not paid the annual fee, he will just pay fifty pesos ( P50.00) to become a member of good standing up December 31, 2000
2. Starting 2001, the membership fee of graduates from all colleges except the College of Law and the Graduates School will be fifty pesos (P50.00).
3. A member pays membership fee only once even if he pursue other courses and graduates from other colleges but he must pay his annual fee.
4. Graduates from the college of Law, College of Medicine, and the Graduates School who are non members, shall pay a membership fee of One hundred pesos only (P100.00) and an annual fee of two hundred pesos only (P200.00) respectively.
5. Those who avail themselves of Moratorium 2000 will continue to pay their annual fee of one hundred pesos (P100.00) only for twenty years, after which they will be issued a certifiaate of full payment, a document to be presented to the office of the Treasurer by their beneficiaries in the event of their demise (which will likewise be done even before the twentieth year (20th year) if the same happens).
a. Those who avail of Moratorium 2000 paying the annual fee of P100.00 for twenty years may pay only P1,000.00 within the year 2000 and will be issued a certificate of full payment, his is a part of Moratorium 2000.
6.The death benefit from year 2000 to 2005 is P3,000.00 only since funds are still limited. From 2006 onwards, the death benefit shall be P5,000.00.
7.In claiming the death benefit, the beneficiary will only present his I.D. As the rightful beneficiary of the deceased alumnus and the certificate of full payment to the Office of the treasurer.
8. Other benefits may be extended to the members when the finances warrant.
